Nebraska State Meet Recap 2022Published by
Dajaz DeFrand Crushes Nebraska Sprint Records; Gabe Hinrichs Pulls Off Triple By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Dejaz DeFrand of Lincoln High ran the fastest 200 meters in state history to win the Class A girls title at Nebraska state meet, clocking 23.74 seconds. She also won the 100 in 11.64, just off her all-time state best time of 11.60. There were fast sprints on the boys side as well. Omaha Central's Jaylen Lloyd edged Malachi Coleman of Lincoln East, 10.54 to 10.58 in an exciting race between two juniors. Another junior, Jack Gillogly of Creighton Prep, won the Class A boys 200 in 21.33. Coleman was a close second in that race, too, running 21.34. Fremont pulled big points out of the distance races on the way to the boys Class A title with 84 points. Gabe Hinrichs from Elkhorn South won the 800 in 1:52.32, the 1,600 in 4:16.34 and the 3,200 in 9:16.14. Lincoln Southwest used a deep lineup to win the girls team title without any individual or relay champions. Sophomore Stella Miner from Omaha Westside won the girls 800 meters in 2:10.14.
