Akin-Otiko goes out with 12th all-class gold
Nebraska State Meet Highlights
Chloe Akin-Otiko of Bellevue West concluded her brilliant prep career in Nebraska with 12 all-class golds -- the second most in state history. She won the 100 meters in 11.76, the 200 meters in 24.11 and the 400 meters in 56.09. - Cam Jurgens of Beatrice, just a sophomore, threw 196-8 to win the Class B discus title. He also won the shot put with 60-4.50. - K.J. Cotton of Papillon-La Vista won the Class A 100/200 sprint double for the second straight year. He clocked 10.55 in the 100 meters and 21.55 in the 200. - Milo Greder from Omaha Westside beat Foot Locker finalist Seth Hirsch of Millard West in the Class A 3,200 meters -- 9:10.29 to 9:15.47. - Autumn Jontz of Omaha Burke, a sophomore, won the 100 hurdles in 14.66 seconds and also the 300 hurdles in 44.37. - Mackenzie Puckett from Grand Island won the Class A girls triple jump with 39-1.50. - Dylan Kautz of Norfolk Catholic, a freshman, nosed out Bennington junior Cody Liske in a Class B 100 photo finish. Kautz was timed in 10.787 and Liske ran 10.789. Kautz later won the 200 in 22.16. - Erin Lee from York won the all-class medal in the 3,200 meters after running 10:48.19 for the Class B crown. She also won the 800 in 2:12.64 and the 1,600 in 5:05.48. - Mika Brees from Seward dashed to Class B girls titles in the 100 (12.33) and the 200 (25.44). - Amanda Young from Gretna won the Class B 400 meters in 56.78 seconds. - Mercedes Isaacson-Cover from Elkhorn won the Class B girls triple jump with 37-8.50. - Mackenzie Brandl from Stanton won the 200/400 events in Class C. She won the 200 in 25.39 and the 400 in 56.93. - Simon Wiedel from Thayer Central swept the Class C boys sprints, taking the 100 in 10.90 and the 200 in 22.35. - Noah Vedral of Bishop Neumann won the Class C boys 300 hurdles in 38.72 seconds and was the all-class medalist. He also ran on the winning 4x400 relay. - Catherine Mick from BDS won the Class D pole vault with a clearance at 11-11 and also won the 100 hurdles (14.91), won the 300 hurdles (44.91, meet record) and was second in the 100 (12.61).
