Kalynn Meyer Launches US#1 Discus Mark - Nebraska State Meet Recap 2019Published by
Meyer Sends Discus 176-8 To Win Class C Title By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Junior Kalynn Meyer of Superior threw the nation’s longest mark this spring in the discus when she hit 176-8 to break a meet record in the Class C Nebraska finals. Meyer won her third straight title in the discus and also threw 49-5 for a personal best in the shot put, a mark that put her at No. 2 in the country. Darius Luff from Lincoln ran a wind-legal US#9 13.69 to win the 110-meter hurdles to break the state meet record. He also won the 300 hurdles in 38.75. Creighton Prep won the boys 4x800 relay in 7:48.89. Wes Ferguson of Fremont won the 400-800 double, clocking 49.07 seconds and 1:52.85. Kevin Shubert from Millard North won the shot put with 62-3.75. Tyler Brown of Lincoln East launched the discus 187 feet to win that event. Miko Maessner from Kearney won the 100 (10.87) and 200 (21.84). Reid Nelson from Elkhorn South won the high jump (6-7) and long jump (21-11.75). Sophomore Kate Dilsaver from Lincoln Southwest keyed her team’s Class A team victory with wins in the 100 (12.08) and 200 (24.90). Teammate Abbie Squier added a shot put victory (41-10.50). Sophomore Lauren Harris from Omaha Marian won the 400 meters in 56.24 seconds after going 55.93 in the prelims. She was also second in the 200 meters. Nisa Bryant of Omaha North won the 100-meter hurdles in 14.61 and placed second in the 300 hurdles. Sunday Thiyang from Papillion-La Vista South won the girls triple jump with 38-8.50. Tanner Scow from Scottsbluff threw 184-8 to win the Class B discus. Ajack Waikur led Lexington to the boys B team title with wins in the triple jump (48-2.75) and high jump (6-8). He was also second in the long jump. Madison Smith of Lexington ran to wins in the girls 100 (12.30) and 200 (25.05). Nyabuay Diew from South Sioux City won the shot put (45-6.25) and discus (144-0) titles. Dylan Kautz put his stamp on a sensational small-school track and field career by cruising to Class C victories in the 100 meters (10.53w seconds, +3.8 m/s) and the 200 (21.71w, +3.1). Brent Wetovick of Fullerton ran 49.40 to win the Class C 400 meters and 1:56.44 to take the 800. Josie Puelz helped Lincoln Lutheran win the girls team title with a 12-9 clearance in the pole vault. She also collected victories in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles. Cedar Catholic’s Sara Reifenrath swept the 100 (12.29), 200 (24.66) and the 400 (56.83). Creighton Kring from Axtell won the Class D triple jump (46-3.75) and also placed in the 100, 200 and long jump.
